Pastries are enjoyed by both the eater and the creative. Recipes of such meals are greatly valued but can vary in quality. Bakery goods are often created with an aesthetic appeal, making recipes that rely on words alone less appealing. These can be overcome through our digital devices, as an app can be used to not only make recipes visually stunning but also more engaging to a chef.

Overview

NOSTALGIA is an app that offers recipes for your favorite bakery guides in a visually appealing format. The main feature of this app is its selection of recipes that users can use to make their favorite pastries. With the target of creating a simple and structured app, I focus on the imagery of iconic pastries to emulate the atmosphere of the bakeries so that users can feel inspired when creating their favorite bakery goods.

NOSTALGIA’s logo is based on the typical round shape of any bakery’s menu. Donuts, cakes, and other delicious sweets are round and considered appetizing. I wanted to portray bakery goods through circular shapes, one representing pastries and another representing the plate many enjoy clearing. To illustrate the enjoyment further, I also added round bite marks to the inner circle, continuing the idea that the bakery goods the app describes are ones that users would love to take a bite out of.
